What is Profhilo?
Firstly, it is important to know that Profhilo has won the award for injectable product of the year multiple times! The first of its kind, Profhilo is a revolutionary ‘beneath the skin’ hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment that hydrates and plumps the skin without adding volume. This unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel has a prolonged stimulating activity on the dermal cells. When injected into the skin, Profhilo stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin.
One of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market, Profhilo not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue. The most common areas of treatment include the face and neck and can also be used for the décolletage, hands, arms, knees and abdomen areas where it effectively treats skin laxity. The treatment is suitable for men and women as well as offering skin benefits for clients of all ages.
How does Profhilo work?
Profhilo has been specially formulated to contain one of the highest concentrations of Hyaluronic Acid in the industry. Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance found in our bodies, responsible for hydrating, counteracting skin laxity and improving and restoring the firmness of the skin.
Unfortunately, our body produces less Hyaluronic Acid from the age of 25 and keeps diminishing each year thereafter, which means we begin to see the signs of ageing in the form of fine lines, wrinkles, sagging and less taught skin. This is why Profhilo treatment is so important for everyone as it replaces the Hyaluronic Acid that our body no longer produces so we can maintain skin tightness and hydration, giving an overall more youthful appearance and slowing down the effects of ageing.
What is the treatment process?
If you are new to Profhilo we will begin the treatment with a consultation to give you the chance to ask any questions you may have. We will then apply topical numbing to the area we are treating to minimise any discomfort.
Usually there are 10 injections sites per treatment area. For example, face will have 10 injection sites, neck will have 10 injection sites. If we are treating face and neck combined you will receive a total of 20 injections. We are more than happy to go at a pace to suit you to make you feel as comfortable as possible.
What to expect after the treatment?
After the treatment you will be a little red at the injection sites and have raised lumps. This is totally normal and will subside within the next few days, but usually it has returned to normal by the end of the day. Bruising like with any injectable treatment can occur, you can minimise the risk of bruising yourself by avoiding caffeine, alcohol and exercise for 24 hours before your treatment. Bruising can take 1–2 weeks to fully disappear.
What is the treatment plan?
If you are new to Profhilo we recommend 2–3 sessions 4 weeks apart to really boost the Hyaluronic Acid levels in your skin. After this you will need one session to maintain results every 6 months. There is no specific rule on how frequent you can have a Profhilo treatment, technically the more Hyaluronic Acid the better, as your skin will be more hydrated and more collagen will build up. The reason we recommend a 6-month interval is that at this point the strongest type of collagen has been made, and collagen production will then cease. By having another Profhilo treatment at 6 months, more Hyaluronic Acid is injected and therefore collagen production will continue, building on top of the new collagen that has been made from the previous treatment. The more collagen, the tighter and more youthful your skin will be.
