POLYNUCLEOTIDES
What are Polynucleotides?
Predominantly derived from salmon DNA, natural polynucleotides are designed to tighten the skin and increase elasticity by stimulating collagen, elastin and Hyaluronic Acid production. Additionally, they possess the ability to soothe inflammation and restore the balance of melanocyte activity (skin pigmentation), resulting in a more even and refreshed skin tone.
Polynucleotides are categorised as a regenerative treatment with the purpose of revitalising the skin on a deeper level. These injectables essentially provide DNA molecules that encourage the skin to repair itself and focuses on restoring normal cellular function by repairing the skin on a more intense level.
What can we treat with Polynucleotides?
Primarily polynucleotides are used to combat ageing skin and slow down the ageing process in terms of skin laxity and wrinkles. Once injected, polynucleotides stimulate the body to self regenerate by producing collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. The presence of these skin components increases skin tightness and reducing wrinkles.
Excellent at boosting fibroblast production and inducing deep tissue repair processes, polynucleotides enhance the skin’s quality and tightness whilst also aiding with other concerns. Some other key usages of polynucleotides include:
• Acne scarring
• Skin conditions such as rosacea, melasma and hyperpigmentation
• Atrophic scarring
• Alopecia and androgenic hair loss
• Deep lines and sunken wrinkles
• Skin rehydration and rejuvenation
• Elastosis
• Facial ageing such as sagging and the formation of fine lines
• Lumpy scars
What areas can we treat, and what is the process?
The great thing about polynucleotides is that we can treat just about anywhere on the face and body. The most common treatment areas are the face, under eyes, neck and décolletage.
At your first appointment we will begin the treatment with a consultation to give you the chance to ask any questions you may have. We will then apply topical numbing to the area we are treating to minimise any discomfort. We then carry out multiple intra-dermal injections, just under the skin, where the product will work its magic.
What is the treatment plan for polynucleotides?
We recommend that 2–3 sessions are required 3–4 weeks apart for best results.
What to expect after the treatment?
Following the treatment the area will be red and lumpy, this is totally normal. The little lumps are called ‘blebs’ and are just the product sitting under the skin. These can take 2–3 days to disappear completely but sometimes, depending on the individual and the area treated, they will disappear quicker. Bruising like with any injectable treatment can occur, you can minimise the risk of bruising yourself by avoiding caffeine, alcohol and exercise for 24 hours before your treatment. Bruising can take 1–2 weeks to go completely.
